Short Blog 5: Fostering Change
Aside from the image conveying the city moving towards the second industrial revolution, it also shows us spatial planning which, the city took into account the location of The Ward. The area is an efficient place to foster the growth of multiple resources and facilities that can attract investments to help the economy and have global ties. It would be a waste to let such an area go to waste; however, using it for new development displaced many families and businesses especially, immigrants who migrate to core areas because of manufacturing jobs. Moreover, the core areas cater to the needs of growing trades, how cities now focus on specialized service work: finances, technology, legal sector and others. The image above tells the story of the first steps of the metro into what it is today.
